This should be required reading for everyone in America...or the world, for that matter. So who, exactly, wrote it? They certainly deserve credit.

Thank you Memory Hole for reviving my memories of Kurt, and his efforts to bring the truth of the war to his fellows. I read his novels and loved them.

This piece resonated with me deeply. I had 4 great uncles who were in the service and in those locales mentioned in the story. If I’m correct, 3 were Army soldiers in the Battle of the Bulge and 1 hot-dog pilot in the RAF. None of them were together and none of them spoke about their service to us kids in the family. As one of the oldest in my generation, I only began uncovering this part of my family history starting in high school when a WWII Veteran, originally from Czechoslovakia, was liberated from a prison camp along with a group of Americans that included one of my great uncles. He explained that my uncle was extremely ill and he had helped keep him alive. My uncle, in return, inspired the other American prisoners to take pieces of their uniforms to make him appear as an American soldier prior to the liberation of the prison camp. Then this man explained that my uncle, sponsored this man to become an American citizen. I was in shock and so proud of them overcoming such horrific circumstances and true American patriots. Since that meeting, I’ve pieced together other stories of relatives and ancestors, men & women, who’ve contributed to our collective history. And I’m humbled what my long line of ancestors have done in their service and sacrifice. We need to keep these stories alive, so that other citizens of the world, understand that war is never the answer. Hate begets hate, and violence begets violence.

We humans all have the power to create change in the world. Each of us have something within us that we can contribute to the common good. The world is an ecosystem. Everything is connected. We need to look within ourselves to figure out what we can do to help make the whole world a better place. I truly think, if each of us self-reflect and find an increment of time to share our individual talents, that could propel us forward toward solving many of the world’s issues, and thus moving us closer towards peace.

Please absorb all types of information, observe the world around you, process the information by thinking critically and creatively, and then use your talents to help others and future generations. That is a fulfilled life. What could be better than that? Now, let’s get this party started and do this NOW!

LOVE ALWAYS WINS. WE ARE THE PEOPLE - WE ARE THE POWER!!!!
